Department Overview

The Mechanical Department is responsible for the end-to-end execution of static equipment for petrochemical, refinery, and oil & gas projects — covering design, engineering, fabrication, inspection, and testing — in full compliance with international codes and standards (ASME, API, TEMA, etc.).

The scope spans from initial data receipt to final delivery, commissioning support, and as-built documentation.

Scope of Work

Input Data Review & Specification Development

  • Review Process Data Sheets (PDS), PFDs, P&IDs, and client specifications
  • Develop or update Mechanical Design & Fabrication Specifications
    Design Code & Edition (ASME BPVC Sec. VIII Div.1/2)
    Design Conditions (MAWP, MAWV, Design Temp)
    Material Specifications (ASME SA Grades)
  • Prepare Equipment List and Mechanical Datasheets for all static equipment

Equipment Classification & Type Identification

Identify and categorize static equipment types including:

Pressure Vessels (Horizontal / Vertical)
Columns & Towers (Distillation, Absorption)
Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers (TEMA R/C/B)
Air Coolers (API 661)
Storage Tanks (API 650 Atmospheric)
Separators, Knock-out Drums, Filters

Mechanical Design & Calculations

Perform detailed mechanical design and code-compliant calculations:

Pressure Vessels & Towers:

  • Shell & Head Thickness (UG-27, UG-32)
  • Nozzle Reinforcement (UG-36 to UG-45)
  • Flange Rating (ASME B16.5/47)

Heat Exchangers:

  • Shell/Channel Thickness, Tube Sheet
  • Baffle Design, Nozzle Loads
  • Expansion Joint Requirement

Software Used: PV Elite, TANK, COMPRESS, Mathcad, Auto PIPE Vessel
